The United States of America has a Federal Law which requires academic proficiency for all students. It is called the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. There are many educational, tutorial, mentoring and other assistance programs available throughout Florida and these United States to help ensure success. One can easily find supporting statistics in educational support programs for the African-American Communities. The public education system, with its professional educators, can certainly teach. This article does not explore the pros and cons for requested additional resources, techniques and increased salaries. Nor does it explore the position of the National Conference of State Legislatures’ requests for changes in the fundamental parts of the far reaching federal educational law.
In order for any viable sustained academic successes in Black America to last longer than short-term gains, the Family Unit must step-up its substantive educational involvement. A civil revolution is necessary to change the average designated family mind-set. Education does matter. It is very honorable. This will lead to a better way of life for individuals and community. “Education is Cool. Get One!” is the vibrant battle cry. A well-placed phrase can serve as an aspect of unification for all of the other worthy instruction employed by Churches, Family, Government, Corporations, Fraternities, Sororities, etc., for advancement. There is presently no continuity of theme which mandates public efforts. An assumption is made herein, that when certain slogans are universally accepted, the focal group achieves its hard to reach goals. “One if by land, two if by sea.” “A chicken in every pot.” “I’m Black and I’m Proud!” …are just a few examples from American history.
Objective: To disseminate the slogan, Education is Cool. Get One!, and
its basic content on a macro level, via various communicative media. This
effort will motivate families and students to achieve higher standards
of human intelligence.
